The 2016 Arsies: February 9, 2016

February 9, 2016 arse

The writing has been on the wall for Lamb Of God this whole tournament. It's not that VII is bad; in fact, it's got everything on paper that you could ever want from a Lamb Of God album: it's heavy, it's got those classic-sounding triplet riffs, Randy Blythe is in fine voice, et cetera. The band even try to step a bit out of their comfort zone, which is admirable if not effective. LOG's problem is that VII is just not excellent enough to turn aside Intronaut. And in fact, most every compliment that you can pay to LOG goes double for Intronaut, with the exception that The Direction Of Last Things may not be as persistently heavy as VII. That caveat aside, Intronaut knock it out of the park, and secure the penultimate Semifinal slot.
Tomorrow, the Quarterfinals come to a crazed conclusion, with Good Tiger and Ufomammut.
